I am a feltmaker/artist/craftperson - I live in Brigg, Nth Lincolnshire and work from home.
In 2004 I started feltmaking after attending a night class run by a local arts group, which prompted me to buy some books & wool & from there I taught myself the basics.
I have now started up my own craft business, displaying my work locally and at craft fairs/markets and festivals, running workshops/demonstrations for adults or children & also giving craft sessions at kids parties.
Love of the sea inspired me to make felt pictures framed with driftwood which is collected on the banks of the Humber & also up at Robin Hoods Bay, where some of my work has been on sale.
I also make button jewellery, which began when I decided to make a necklace from a favourite button and I went on from there to make a range of earrings, bracelets, necklaces and brooches from old buttons. I also incorporate them and pieces of broken jewellery into my felt flowers and other felt items.
I love what I do; feltmaking, for me, is the ideal medium to work with and gives so much scope for the imagination. A tradional craft based on very simple, age-old technique which can be used to produce a wide range of unique items
